Climate
Change

The Earth’s climate has always changed, but never at the pace we are seeing today. In just a few decades, changes that once unfolded over thousands of years are happening far more quickly, placing growing pressure on life across the planet and on the delicate balance that makes it possible.

Climate change is the direct result of human activities.

Throughout the Earth’s history, the climate has gone through significant changes, sometimes quite extreme, but these have always taken place over very long periods of time.

Today, however, these changes are happening over a much shorter timescale. The scientific community widely agrees that human activities are the main cause. Factors such as land use, intensive resource extraction, pollution, loss of biodiversity, and global warming all interact and reinforce one another, creating impacts that lead to further challenges for life on our planet.

An unprecedented impact

Climate change is affecting cities, agriculture, and natural environments, placing ecosystems and the essential services that human societies rely on at risk. While not all of the changes we are seeing can be predicted, it is clear that the impact will be felt by billions of people, as well as by all living species and the habitats they depend on.

Fondazione Capellino’s commitment

Fondazione Capellino recognises the scale of the climate crisis and has made climate change one of the central focuses of its work. Addressing the climate means tackling its underlying, interconnected causes and rethinking economic models, as well as the relationships between human activities, biodiversity, and natural resources.
