REcommunity

A space to inform, share and engage

The REcommunity is open to everyone, yet it is also the community of its founders: Almo Nature and the Capellino Foundation.

It is founded on the insight that life is an indivisible whole and that human activities—when pursued without limits, as is currently the case—have a negative impact on it. Hence the importance of placing life—that is, biodiversity—at the heart of human decision-making and initiating a process of progressively returning profits generated through the extraction or destruction of biodiversity back to biodiversity itself (an economy that replenishes what it extracts); this is precisely what happens every day at Almo Nature, which is 100% owned by the Capellino Foundation.

This is the Reintegration Economy, and the REcommunity is the home for all those who share its values.

Nature never ceases to amaze us

Nature never ceases to amaze us

Right now, somewhere in the ocean, a male is giving birth. It is the male seahorse that carries the pregnancy. He nurtures the developing embryos in a specialised pouch and eventually gives birth to them, while the female is already producing a new batch of eggs. Does that sound strange? Not really.

What you can do to stop your cat becoming dehydrated

What you can do to stop your cat becoming dehydrated

Cats are the only pets that can become dehydrated even when their water bowl is always full. The reason is often in what they eat every day. Dry kibble contains very little water. To digest it, the body actually uses its own fluids. Many cat owners are not aware of this. And it often goes unnoticed.

Climate change is transforming our cities – but we can protect them

Climate change is transforming our cities – but we can protect them

Life in cities, whether large or small, has always been shaped by the local climate. In Madrid, summer heat encourages people to go out late, once temperatures have dropped. In Stockholm, long cold winters encourage a more indoor lifestyle, marked by moments of social life such as fika, the afternoon ritual centred on coffee and pastries.

From Patagonia to Bavaria: how the loss of biodiversity opens the door to viruses

From Patagonia to Bavaria: how the loss of biodiversity opens the door to viruses

In the Bavarian countryside, a tributary of the Danube has lost half of its water and almost all its wildlife. This is not a minor environmental issue. It reflects the same process seen in depleted ecosystems around the world, where the loss of natural balance supports the growth of viral reservoirs and raises the risk of spillover into humans. The restoration of the Große Laber area, funded almost entirely by the Fondazione Capellino and carried out with local nature conservation groups and volunteers, is part of an effort to restore ecological balance. Human health security depends on this balance more than many realise.

A companion for life deserves more than a tight leash

A companion for life deserves more than a tight leash

A companion for life deserves more than a tight leash There is a small gesture that happens thousands of times each day, in every city. It is so automatic that it often goes unnoticed: the leash tightens, a quick pull, and a familiar phrase, spoken or unspoken, ‘Come on, let’s go.’ The dog lowers its nose toward something that, for it, is full of meaning. We pull it away. It is worth pausing on this moment, because it reveals a deeper misunderstanding about who dogs are, what it means to live with them, and the responsibility we accept when we choose to share our lives with them.

Something you may not know about bees

Something you may not know about bees

“If bees disappeared from the Earth, humanity would only have four years left to live.” Many people have heard this quote, often linked to Albert Einstein. In fact, there is no evidence that Einstein ever said it, and scientifically it is not entirely accurate. But the idea behind it is true. Bees play an essential role in nature. As they move from flower to flower, they carry pollen between plants, helping them reproduce.

Elephants: an extraordinary bond between mothers and their calves

When we think of elephants, we often picture their impressive size, their intelligence, or even their remarkable memory.

Dispelling the myth of the 'Big Bad Wolf'

Dispelling the myth of the 'Big Bad Wolf'

For centuries, the wolf has been portrayed as a threat in fairy tales and legends, from Little Red Riding Hood to Jean de La Fontaine. It is often shown as a cunning and cruel enemy, ready to attack both people and animals. These stories have created a lasting fear that still shapes how many people see wolves today, and in some cases how they are managed in policy.

The community

Joining the REcommunity means becoming part of a network of people who share a simple belief: life is one connected whole and should be at the centre of the decisions we make.

This is not a place for passive observers. It is a space where people can exchange ideas, explore complex topics, support practical initiatives, and take part in a cultural shift that places biodiversity at the heart of both the economy and society.

The REcommunity is open to anyone who wants to learn, get involved, and contribute in a thoughtful and responsible way.

It's a place for those who believe that giving back to life what has been taken from it is not optional, but a responsibility.
